2021-7-7, Metacomet Trail, Farmington, Plainville, CT
On 2021-7-7, I hiked the Metacomet Trail, from US-6 in Farmington southerly to Pinnacle Rock in Plainville, and back. Here's a screenshot showing location numbers that I'll refer to.
1. The northeastern end of a boardwalk on a section where water oozes out of the hillside.
Between 1 and 2. A bridge connecting two parts of the gravel-road-like section.
2. The southwestern end of the gravel-road-like section.
3. A new set of stone steps.
4. Going northerly, on my way back, despite the clear blazing, I missed the left turn here and went onto an unblazed trail that traveled for about 300 feet and re-connected with the Metacomet.
5. A sunlit stretch of trail through a power cut tends to get overgrown.
5. A blow-down in the powercut.
5. Poison ivy in the powercut.
5. A fallen branch near the powercut.
6. A recent blowdown.
7 I tried to push this small blowdown off the trail, but couldn't get the blowdown around a standing tree.
8. Going northerly, I could see no blaze ahead here. This is looking at the Metacomet. A broad unblazed thoroughfare went to the left.
.9. Pinnacle Rock, where I turned around.
