On 2021-4-1, I hiked the Tunxis Mile of Ledges Trail and some near-by trails. Mile of Ledges is the western-most mile-or-so of the Tunxis Blue-Yellow Trail. I recorded GPS Waypoints where I took pictures. I made an interactive map that shows the locations of the Waypoints. Here's a link to the interactive map: https://arcg.is/19j04a .
Here's a screenshot of the eastern portion of the interactive map.
Here's a screenshot of the western portion of the interactive map.
I parked in a pull-off on East Chippens Hill Road and followed the Tunxis Blue-Yellow Trail westerly.
004. A view of Country Pond.
005. At one of several fords on the Tunxis Blue-Yellow Trail.
006. The view into a rock formation that the Tunxis Blue-Yellow Trail goes through. It's easy to walk around the formation.
007. One of the few blow-downs on the Tunxis Blue-Yellow Trail.
008. One of the Mile-Of-Ledges clambers.
009. Another blow-down on the Tunxis Blue-Yellow Trail.
010. Here, there were the remains of a breached mill dam.
012. This is Tory's Den where Stephen Graves, who retained his allegiance to the British during the American Revolution, was supposed to have hidden from American Patriots.
014. I used an unblazed trail to go part of the way back towards where I parked. Someone has been maintaining the unblazed trail.
015. A ford on the unblazed trail.
016. A view from the eastern side of Country Pond. I took this picture at the end of a spur trail off a red-blazed trail.
017. There was a sign on this tree that said the tree was a scarlet oak. Near its base, the tree looked a lot like a black oak.
017.
017. The upper part of the scarlet oak looked a lot like a red oak.
018. The Tunxis Blue-Yellow Trail goes through a small farm. Was this a burro?
019. On my way back, I took this picture of the approach to the upper part of a scary ledge the trail goes along.
019. The descent from the scary ledge was the trickiest part. I used the small ledges on the left in this picture. I had cleaned the ledges out with a stick on my way up.
021. There was a partially cleared trail that by-passed the scary ledge. The by-pass trail was marked with pink tape. This picture was taken mid-way along the by-pass trail.
022. This shows the western junction of the by-pass trail and the Tunxis Blue-Yellow Trail.
