2021-3-9, Blow-Down Cutting, Heublein Tower Area, Bloomfield, CT

On2021-3-9, I cut some blow-downs that were blocking trails in the area of the Heublein Tower.  The tower itself is in Simsbury, CT, but I was mostly in Bloomfield, CT.

Blow-down 1 which was made up of several fallen hemlocks.  This was on the Metacomet Trail.

Blow-down 1 removed.

Blow-down 2.  This was also on the Metacomet Trail.

Blow-down 2 unfinished.  I decided to finish the job on another day when I would bring tools to allow me to dig under the cut on the left side so that I could get my 36-inch bow saw under the log.

Blow-down 3 and blow-down 4.  These were on the blue-red Heublein By-Pass Trail.

Blow-down 3  and blow-down 4 removed.

Blow-down 5.  This was also on the blue-red Heublein By-Pass Trail.

Blow-down 5 removed.

Blow-down 6.  This was on an unblazed Wintonbury Land Trust trail.

Blow-down 6 removed.

Locations of the blow-downs.
